PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cinépolis USA, a leading world-class cinema exhibitor known for its enhanced movie-going concepts, announced today the grand reopening date of Friday, November 9 for The Bay Theatre by Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas in newly debuted Palisades Village. Originally designed in 1948 by one of the most prolific American motion pictures theaters architects, S. Charles Lee, the cherished Bay Theatre will reopen 40 years following its 1978 closure with five ultra-lux, customized screening rooms each with over-the-top amenities that cater to entertainment-appreciative Angelenos and residents of the Pacific Palisades, one of Southern California’s most coveted communities for families and privacy-seeking celebrities.
“It has been an honor restoring this beloved movie destination long missing from the area with our personal touch,” said Luis Olloqui, CEO of Cinépolis USA. “We were inspired by the rich history of the building and sophisticated coastal aesthetic of Palisades Village to create a movie-going experience committed to celebrating its community.”
The newly designed Bay Theatre by Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas will be “the nation's most impressive cinema” according to Olloqui, offering a holistic entertainment experience for guests including an intimate lobby bar, introduction of the exhibitor’s new gourmet food and concessions menu, and cutting-edge sound and projection technology. Each auditorium will feature top-of-the-line luxurious leather reclining seats, reserved seating and the brand’s signature in-theater waiter service available at the push of a button.
New Amenities Elevating the Entertainment Experience
Auditorium seating within the entertainment multiplex will be industry-defining. Installation of a first-of-its-kind, in-auditorium special 250 top-of-the-line, fully-reclining leather seats make The Bay Theatre by Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas the only movie theater in the U.S. to provide guests with this level of customized comfort. These high-end automated plush recliners can only be found in two other locations within the U.S., including the exclusive boxes and VIP zones at the Miami Dolphin’s Hard Rock Stadium and at San Francisco 49ers Levi’s Stadium.
A standout component of the Bay Theatre by Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas includes the installation of one 35mm film projector. This is the first and only 35mm film projector at Cinépolis USA theaters nationwide and was added to the theater at the suggestion of iconic, A-list movie directors and celebrities living in Pacific Palisades for hosting private screenings of their own films. This 35mm projector is a rarity to have in theater auditoriums today, where digital and laser projectors are the predominant technology of the industry.
The Bay Theatre by Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas will also showcase a new gourmet menu that is being introduced nationally to all Luxury cinemas within the brand portfolio. The menu features more fresh ingredients, new healthy options and dishes created with an international approach, inspired by American, Mexican, Spanish and Asian cuisines. The Bay Theatre will also have exclusive menu items created specifically for this individual location including vegan and vegetarian options that reflect California clean eating. While creating the menu, Cinépolis USA’s lead corporate chef Mirella Velazquez drew from her culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu in Dallas and international experience working in Spain with a Michelin three-starred chef to design a colorful menu that is robust but also easy to eat inside a dark auditorium. Guests may also enjoy beverages from the full bar menu, which includes craft beer, specialty cocktails and Cinépolis USA Private Label wine.
To further Cinépolis USA’s commitment in providing an elevated culinary experience to its guests, Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas Pacific Palisades guests can download and use the brand’s updated mobile app that now includes food and beverage ordering. In addition to easy mobile ticketing on the go, the newly enhanced app now allows users visiting a Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas Pacific Palisades to have a meal or concessions delivered directly to their seat. With just a few taps, customers can now order and pay ahead of time, and earn special rewards for their purchases, all designed to streamline the mobile ordering process.
