WASHINGTON--()--Leading into the new season, National Geographic is set to produce a special live presentation of four-time Emmy-nominated late-night talk show StarTalk with Neil deGrasse Tyson: Live From the Beacon Theatre with featured guest James Cameron in New York City on Nov. 14, 2018. In addition to National Geographic Explorer and award-winning filmmaker Cameron, guests to include Ellie Kemper (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” author of “My Squirrel Days”), Kevin Hand (NASA Jet Propulsion Labs), Julie Huber (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) and comic co-host Eugene Mirman (“Bob’s Burgers”).

In this special live program, science and comedy collide for an hour-long episode of Tyson’s popular television and radio show. The televised live production will focus on the search for life on alien water worlds, which will be explored through the lens of pop culture and comedy and made accessible by Tyson and Mirman and their celebrity, comedic and scientific guests.

Tyson and co-host Mirman will interview National Geographic Explorer, former NASA Advisory Council member and Academy Award-winning director Cameron in front of the live audience to discuss his famous ocean explorations and the prospect of discovering life in bodies of water found on other planets and moons. Comedian guest Kemper will bring her scientific curiosity and comedic perspective throughout the evening, while experts Hand and Huber offer insights into how new discoveries and technologies may reveal secrets, such as whether we are alone in the universe.

StarTalk with Neil deGrasse Tyson: Live From the Beacon Theatre will explore current events from the frontiers of science and space exploration just like Tyson’s award-winning podcast and chart-topping radio show, StarTalk, from which the National Geographic television show gets its name. The popular late-night science talk show is set to premiere its fifth season on Nov. 12, 2018, at 11/10c with celebrity guests such as the late Anthony Bourdain, Jeff Goldblum, former Vice President Al Gore, Christiane Amanpour, Anna Deavere Smith, Dan Rather, Patricia Cornwell, Olivia Munn, Darren Aronofsky, James Marsden and more.
