NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG), a leading provider of insurance and financial services throughout the Americas, celebrates longstanding PALIG Board Member Wendell Mottley’s recent honor and selection as a recipient of the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (ORTT), the country’s highest national award.
ORTT is awarded to no more than five individuals annually and recognizes those who have rendered distinguished and outstanding service to Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Mottley’s selection is an honor and tribute to his dedicated service to the country, as a thought leader in economics and politics over the last 40 years.
“It came as no surprise that Wendell was selected for this prestigious award,” said José S. Suquet, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Pan-American Life Insurance Group. “Wendell’s commitment and sophisticated business sense have undoubtedly made a mark and we celebrate this remarkable accomplishment alongside him.”
Motley is the former chairman of the Unit Trust Corporation, the Caribbean's largest mutual fund company. He has served as Minister of Housing, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and Minister of Finance in his native Trinidad & Tobago from 1981 to 1995. He joined Credit Suisse New York in 1996 and grew in his career as an investment banker in various positions over the course of 15 years including Managing Director and Senior Advisor roles.
Mottley, an Olympic medalist for track and field in the 1964 Tokyo games, has held extensive board member positions, and has sat on the PALIG Board of Directors since 2013.
