NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The All Stars Project, Inc. (ASP), a national nonprofit organization that sponsors afterschool development programs to help inner-city youth and their families create success in their lives and Guidepost Solutions, a global leader in compliance, investigations, and security consulting, today announced that Bart M. Schwartz, Chairman of Guidepost Solutions, has been elected to ASP’s national board of directors and is the new chair of the nonprofit’s New York board. Mr. Schwartz has been a strong supporter of ASP for nearly 15 years, integral to its work in addressing poverty and helping youth in America’s inner cities.
Mr. Schwartz began his involvement with ASP in 2004, joining the ASP of New York board in December of 2015. As part of his work on behalf of ASP, Mr. Schwartz became an early champion and enduring advocate of ASP’s award-winning Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids program. His support was instrumental in formalizing ASP’s 11-year partnership with the New York City Police Department, helping strengthen and grow this innovative police-community relations model program.
“I am proud to work with the All Stars Project and honored to have joined its national board of directors and be appointed chair of its New York board,” said Mr. Schwartz. “Public service is needed in our country now more than ever. For me, that translates into doing all that I can for the All Stars Project. Over the past 15 years I’ve seen first-hand how the organization’s performance-based approach to development addresses poverty and helps youth in America’s inner cities. Moreover, the All Stars Project is transformational, for the youth enrolled in their programs and for the professionals who volunteer their time. All Stars creates a community where everyone, no matter their present circumstances, has the opportunity to build a brighter future.”
Under Mr. Schwartz’ leadership, Guidepost Solutions is an active participant in ASP’s Development School for Youth (DSY) programs in New York, Dallas and San Francisco. The DSY afterschool development program offers young people from 16 to 21 the opportunity to learn to perform as professionals, by partnering with business leaders across the country who conduct development workshops and provide paid summer internships.
“Mr. Schwartz is a wonderful addition to our board of directors, and a perfect person to serve as chair of our New York board, as he embodies so much of what New York is all about,” said ASP President and CEO Gabrielle Kurlander. “Not only did Mr. Schwartz grow up in Brooklyn, he is also an entrepreneur who embraces innovation and outside-the-box ideas. His passion for giving back to communities where young people are living in poverty has already inspired dozens of other corporate leaders to step forward. I am thrilled to partner with him on advancing Afterschool Development.”
Described by The New York Times as the person “often sought out in…thorny situations” by corporations, Mr. Schwartz has wide experience providing advice and support to companies, governments and individuals. He served under U.S. Attorney Rudolph Giuliani as the Chief of the Criminal Division in the Southern District of New York. In that post, Mr. Schwartz had responsibility for overseeing prosecutions related to financial and business fraud, organized crime, narcotics, and other types of criminal activity.
Mr. Schwartz has served as a trial lawyer, corporate advisor and CEO of a private company and a unit of a public company. For more than 30 years, he has managed complex investigations, prosecutions and security assessments, and provided sophisticated investigative services to a wide array of clients. In addition to being the chairman of Guidepost Solutions, he serves on the board of HMS Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:HMSY), where he is chairman of the Compliance Committee and a member of its Audit Committee. He is also chairman of the board of Kadmon Corporation, LLC and is on the board of directors of the Stuyvesant High School Alumni Association.
