SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Global Risk Solutions’ Non-Executive Chair Jeffrey T. Bowman performed the 74th annual CPCU Conferment at The Institutes’ CPCU Society 2018 Annual Meeting Oct. 13, 2018, in San Diego, California.
The 2018 Conferment celebrated both the 2017 and 2018 Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter classes. Last year’s conferment, which had been scheduled for Orlando, was canceled due to Hurricane Irma.
Bowman, immediate past chair of The Institutes’ Board of Trustees, conferred the CPCU designation to the combined 2017 and 2018 classes of more than 3,800 CPCU designees, representing 24 countries, all 50 U.S. states and two territories. To see a video of Bowman’s address, click here.
“It was an honor to confer to so many designees who earned the CPCU qualification,” Bowman said.
The American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters was founded in 1942 on the campus of The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. There are more than 84,000 CPCUs worldwide. CPCU designees adhere to the program’s founding principles of education, experience and ethics by: passing The Institutes’ credentialing examinations, meeting a mandatory experience requirement and agreeing to be bound by a code of professional ethics.
“The CPCU is the pre-eminent professional designation in the insurance industry. Cornerstones of the CPCU program remain education, experience and ethics,” Bowman said.
