Clinically Validated Muscle Oxygen Monitor Humon Unveils Major Product Update

Revolutionary Sensor Empowers Athletes to Optimize Workout Intensities and Recovery in Real-Time

BOSTON--()--Humon today unveiled its updated threshold test– a feature that will empower athletes to understand the limits of their bodies and improve performance. The feature will provide athletes with downloadable data and an on-demand analysis of threshold performance.

The Humon Hex is the first clinically validated wearable to monitor muscle oxygen levels in real-time, providing personalized training insights. The athlete is guided through a display of colored training zones that can be used to adjust pace, available on a phone, watch, or bike computer.

Traditionally measured in a laboratory setting, lactate threshold is the point at which lactate builds up in the blood stream, indicating that pace or intensity cannot be held. Threshold is considered one of the single best markers for endurance fitness. With the Hex, muscle oxygen is measured directly and threshold point is predicted accurately without lab equipment.

The announcement comes shortly after coach, Ato Boldon, revealed that he endorsed the device. He also revealed that he was leveraging the Humon Hex in sprinter Briana Williams’ training leading up to her victory in the World U20 100m and 200m races.

“Briana and I ensure that she’s training optimally through checkpoints to learn about the way her body is reacting to exercise," said Boldon. "We know that muscle oxygen is the most accurate indicator of exertion and recovery. This type of monitoring is the future.”

The Humon Hex– A New Kind of Monitor for Athletes

“By measuring the amount of oxygen that a muscle group is using, athletes can reach the optimum workout intensity level without exceeding their limits. With Humon, we want to make this tech available to all athletes,” says Alessandro Babini, CEO and co-founder of Humon.
