NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stephan Farber is proud to announce the launch of Sound Post Capital, a boutique financial services firm providing personalized family office services to clients located throughout the United States.
A veteran executive with Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch and UBS, Farber is a financial advisor with depth in wealth transfer strategies and tax-sensitive philanthropic initiatives. He works closely with multi-generation families who encounter distinctive challenges in managing and stewarding their wealth. “In addition to financial assets, our clients typically have significant tangible assets in the way of property and collectibles,” Farber relates. “Our clients are passionate collectors, actively buying and selling art, musical instruments and wine. Non-financial assets can represent a meaningful percentage of their balance sheets and are excellent for both estate planning and philanthropic giving.”
Because collecting is a highly personal and important area of their lives, Sound Post Capital’s clients look to Farber for assistance in managing their collections. “My years in the music industry before entering banking, working with the likes of Philip Glass, David Bowie and The Rolling Stones, have given me a unique perspective on both the arts and collectors.” A string instrument enthusiast, Stephan is a violinist and collects and plays pre-war Gibson mandolins.
Sound Post Capital derives its name from an internal part of a string instrument that serves as a structural support and helps create the instrument’s unique sound. The French word for this component is âme, meaning “soul.” Farber hails the physical—and metaphysical—elements of his work, believing that effective wealth management is grounded in sound structures and techniques, while connecting intimately to each client’s priorities and aspirations.
“If you look at the scroll and the body of a violin, you will see that they follow the form of the golden ratio, a geometric form that implies balance and harmony and is often found in nature,” adds Farber. “The virtues of balance and harmony can equally be applied to investment strategy. After all, every art and every kind of collector consciously considers these elements, and they apply no less to investment strategy – especially where families are concerned.”
Stephan is excited to partner with Inscription Capital and GPS Investment Partners. Joining Farber in creating Sound Post Capital is Lavada Fulgham, who previously worked with him at Merrill Lynch and UBS; she began her financial services career at Goldman Sachs.
Farber serves on the boards of Arco Collaborative (established by internationally renowned violinist Jennifer Koh), Ojai Music Festival, and Welligence Energy Analytics. He earned his M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his B.A. from Oberlin College.
