The Future of Fraud and Identity Management Revealed at Digital Identity Summit 2018

Global Gathering of Digital Identity Experts Shared Success Stories of Identity Technologies’ Power to Predict

LOS ANGELES--()--ThreatMetrix®, A LexisNexis® Risk Solutions Company, today shared the most valuable take-aways from the Digital Identity Summit 2018, which took place Sept. 12-14 in Los Angeles.

The 2018 Digital Identity Summit series theme was "The Power to Predict," which encouraged all involved to explore digital identity's ability to help businesses both understand, and more importantly, anticipate, the actions and intentions of every individual they transact with, to increase security and drive growth.

Renowned tech journalist Kara Swisher of Recode set the stage with a keynote presentation that pulled no punches on top tech trends that the audience should be aware of – and beware of. She noted that life as we know it will fundamentally change over the coming decade due to the rise of machine learning, robotics and automation, as well as the shift to self-driving cars. As a result, she predicted an unprecedented assault on personal privacy.

On day two, keynote speaker Brett Johnson, the ‘Original Internet Godfather,’ revealed lessons from his career as a notorious cybercriminal, including a stint on the FBI’s Most Wanted List. Kathryn Petralia, Co-Founder and COO of Kabbage and one of Forbes’ World’s 100 Most Powerful Women, also shared insights grounded in her perspective at the forefront of the tech revolution, along with anecdotes of how digital identity is powering growth for fintech businesses worldwide.

The speaking program also featured identity experts from across North America, Europe and Latin America, including executives from eBay, PwC, JPMorgan Chase, Interac, Afterpay, Lloyds Banking Group, Banco de Bogota, Target, Best Buy and Worldpay.

Executives from the event’s founding sponsors, ThreatMetrix, took the stage alongside LexisNexis Risk Solutions to share their vision to facilitate universal fraud and identity management as a result of their newly combined organization.

“Society at large is facing serious challenges from rising cybercrime, including identity theft, financial exclusion, trafficking and global terrorism,” said Rick Trainor, CEO of LexisNexis Risk Solutions, Business Services, during his opening presentation. “And we see identity as central to solving many of these issues. By combining technology and data insights we’re delivering 360-degree online and offline identity insights to help businesses secure the digital economy and make society a safer place.”

Now in its eighth year, the Digital Identity Summit is part of a global series that delivers an unmatched combination of keynotes, technology deep-dives and extensive networking opportunities. Attendees leave with the latest and greatest thinking around fraud prevention, authentication and identity management, fully prepared to make more predictive and accurate risk and authentication decisions.

“At every Digital Identity Summit, we are inspired by this passionate community, who are driving forward technology innovation for the greater good. More and more businesses are embracing digital identity technologies’ power to predict whether customers transacting on their websites and apps are actually who they claim to be, and whether they can be trusted. This is transformative to the future of a secure digital economy,” concluded Frank Teruel, General Manager of ThreatMetrix and host of the Digital Identity Summit.
