South Baton Rouge Animal Hospital Now Open

BATON ROUGE, La.--()--Filling a much-needed gap in a growing part of town, South Baton Rouge Animal Hospital (SBRAH) is officially open. Located at 10090 Bluebonnet Blvd., Suite B, Baton Rouge, the state-of-the-art primary care practice for companion animals was meticulously built with decades of experience, a passion for pets, and a commitment to the local community.

Owned and operated by two Louisiana natives, Dr. Alfred G. Stevens and Dr. Stephen M. Lee, Jr. – who are also the owners of Sherwood South Animal Hospital, located at 3803 South Sherwood Forest Blvd., Baton Rouge – both doctors are honored to now also serve the pets and families of South Baton Rouge.

“As lifelong pet owners and clinicians, we understand and deeply respect the human-animal bond,” said Dr. Lee, General Manager of SBRAH. “Baton Rouge is our home and caring for the companion animals of Southern Louisiana is our privilege. We are grateful that we can offer leading-edge primary care services in a new part of town.”

It’s all about prevention and wellness.

Just like with humans, it’s important for every pet to have a primary care doctor to stay in tip-top shape to ensure a long and healthy life. Regular wellness exams are encouraged along with routine screenings to identify and treat minor problems before they become major ones.

Services Include:

  • Dental care
  • Digital radiography (x-ray)
  • Heartworm, flea and tick prevention
  • In-house laboratory
  • Microchipping

In addition to the general practice, SBRAH works in partnership with its sister hospital Sherwood South Animal Hospital for 24/7 emergency care as well as veterinary supervised overnight monitoring of hospitalized patients. Sophisticated technology allows medical records to be accessed from either location, at any time, ensuring a seamless transfer of information. Additionally, patients who need advanced care can stay within the family through referral to Baton Rouge Veterinary Specialists. Together, the network of three hospitals works collaboratively to ensure that each patient is in the best and most appropriate hands.

Primary care appointments at SBRAH are available Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 6:00pm and Saturday 7:00am – 12:00pm. The practice is closed on Sunday. Please call 225-367-1636 to schedule an appointment.
