--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fordham Law School will host a reception to kick off a multi-event celebration commemorating 100 years of women at the law school. “100 Years of Women at Fordham Law School” will feature a series of events honoring the many achievements, milestones and accomplishments of the distinguished women alumni and faculty of the law school.
This gathering is an opportunity to celebrate Fordham Law’s amazing women alumni, faculty, and students past, present and future who are leaders in the judiciary, law firms, public service, government and business.
On September 12, 1918, the Fordham Law faculty voted to admit women to the Law School. Ten days later, the Law School’s customary start-of-term ad in The New York Times announced "courses open to women." In the week before classes convened, eight women signed up to study alongside 312 men.
“Fordham Law Women: Past, Present, Future: Kick-Off Reception,” is the first event in the months-long celebration, and will honor distinguished alumni including:
- Geraldine Ferraro ’60 and her induction to Fordham’s Alumni of Distinction
- Hon. Loretta A. Preska ’73 as she receives the Fordham University President’s Medal
- Tanyell Cooke ’19, current Student Bar Association President
Registration for the reception can be found here.
The continuing celebration will feature numerous panel discussions, symposiums, receptions and other events commemorating the women of Fordham Law’s past accomplishments, current initiatives and future objectives. The full schedule of future events can be found here. On social media the hashtag is #FLS100WMN
