CARLSBAD, Calif.--()--SleepScore Labs, the company behind the most advanced non-contact sleep improvement system for consumers, today revealed results supporting the effectiveness of the Good Night®️ LED Sleep-Enhancing Lights, created by SleepScore’s ecosystem partner, Lighting Science Group. As a result of using the Sleep-Enhancing Lights in the evening, data from the SleepScore Labs validation study confirmed users were able to fall asleep more quickly and felt more rested the following morning.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one-third of U.S. adults reported receiving less than the recommended amount of sleep. The National Sleep Foundation reported that two-thirds of the workforce experiences suboptimal sleep at least a few times a week. To help people achieve a better night’s sleep, SleepScore Labs tests sleep technology, products, and services in real-world conditions to help consumers find effective solutions catered towards their specific sleep needs.

“Evening exposure to regular LED light, which contains a high amount of the blue spectrum, is capable of disrupting sleep by minimizing the melatonin secretion that naturally occurs in the evening and helps you sleep," said Roy Raymann, Ph.D., Vice President of Sleep Science and Scientific Affairs, SleepScore Labs. “The Good Night® LED Sleep-Enhancing Light minimizes the amount of blue light spectrum emitted and therefore helps prevent blue light-induced decreases in melatonin secretion in the evening. This might help people fall asleep easier and maintain a regular sleep schedule, which is key to good sleep.”

SleepScore Labs is backed by over 12 years of comprehensive research and development, including more than six million nights of objective sleep data. SleepScore Labs’ sleep measurement technology, powered by ResMed, has extensively been validated against polysomnography (PSG) – the gold standard in sleep measurement.

"We are always encouraged when results validate the benefits of creative sleep solutions like the Good Night® LED Sleep-Enhancing Lights, as they demonstrate the value of our unique ecosystem and provide an expanded selection of effective sleep aid options to consumers," said Colin Lawlor, CEO, SleepScore Labs. "As our user base continues to grow, so will our technological advantage in using big data to advance the science of sleep.”

The Good Night®️ LED Sleep-Enhancing Lights were tested over 1,750 nights of tracked sleep with multiple users and were found to benefit several key aspects of perceived and objective sleep. The study garnered the following results:

  • Over half of users reported better sleep in general.
  • Over half of users reported shorter time to fall asleep.
  • Half of users felt more rested when waking up the next day.
  • 90 percent reported they would continue using the lights after the study concluded.

“Inclusion in SleepScore Labs’ validation study program provides a great opportunity for us to build more proof points around our products, as well as identify new customers to reap the benefits of these products,” said Fred Maxik, founder, Lighting Science Group. “The simple fact is that regular use of our specialty spectrum lighting helps people achieve better sleep, ultimately leading to better health.”

Lighting Science Group also offers the companion Good Night®️ Bedside Table Lamp through the SleepScore Labs website to further support a natural sleep cycle and improve overall the quality and duration of sleep.
