BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Urgent Care Group, a Nashville-based urgent care company, announced today the completion of the acquisition earlier this summer of MEDcare Urgent Care in South Carolina. To complete the transaction, Urgent Care Group partnered with Capital Alignment Partners and Harbert Management Corporation. Urgent Care Group now owns and operates MEDcare Urgent Care’s seven (7) centers located across South Carolina in Charleston, Columbia, Spartanburg, and Anderson. All centers are open seven days per week from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM and provide convenient, affordable, health care services on a walk-in basis.

Kevin Blankenship, MD joins Urgent Care Group Board of Directors
Urgent Care Group also announced that urgent care industry veteran Kevin Blankenship, MD has been appointed a member of its Board of Directors. Dr. Blankenship co-founded MedExpress, one of the largest urgent care companies in the country, and served as its Chief Operating Officer for many years. Dr. Blankenship earned degrees in pharmacy and medicine and went on to complete his emergency medicine residency at West Virginia University. He became board certified in emergency medicine and worked in numerous medical settings throughout West Virginia. Prior to the acquisition, Dr. Blankenship served as President, MEDcare Urgent Care. In addition, he founded and serves as Medical Director of Jacob’s Ladder, a residential substance abuse treatment program for men that is featured in the Netflix documentary Recovery Boys.
