Broward Health Medical Center Designated an Aetna (Institute of Quality® / Institute of Excellence™)

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--()--Broward Health Medical Center has been designated an Aetna Institute of Quality® (IOQ) Cardiac Care Facility for the Cardiac Medical Intervention, Rhythm and Surgery programs for comprehensive heart and vascular treatment.

Aetna makes information about the quality and cost of health care services available to its members to help them make informed decisions about their health care needs. In line with this goal, Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical services for certain health conditions. Facilities are selected IOQ for consistently delivering evidence-based, safe care.

“This designation validates our continuous commitment to quality patient care,” said Beverly Capasso, President/CEO of Broward Health. “We are pleased to be recognized as a hospital that consistently provides high-quality and high-value cardiovascular care, a testament to the dedication of our physicians and staff.”

Broward Health Medical Center, a leader in cardiovascular care, has been distinguished as one of the nation’s top centers for cardiovascular treatment and provides comprehensive clinical, surgical and rehabilitative care. The hospital offers a wide range of tests and procedures to diagnose and treat cardiac and vascular conditions, providing an individualized approach to identifying cardiac risk factors while offering a quick assessment of symptoms.

Broward Health was the first health care system in Broward County to offer patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF), an alternative to long-term warfarin medication, with the newly approved WATCHMAN Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC) Implant. In addition, it is the only health system in Broward County offering patient-friendly imaging by The SOMATOM® Definition Flash, one of the fastest computed tomography (or CT) scanners available today.
