DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) announces the departure of longtime President & CEO April Giles. She served CBSA for more than 12 years, providing operational leadership before assuming the President & CEO role in 2012, and will stay with CBSA until August 30.
Scott Larson, Chairman of the CBSA Board of Directors, says:
“Under
April’s leadership, CBSA grew as an organization and took on new
initiatives to better serve our state’s bioscience sector. She
recognized the need for increasing access to capital for our companies
and for developing our bioscience workforce and its future leaders.
April worked with the board to launch and grow the Colorado BioScience
Institute to address short- and long-term workforce strategies. She also
led the continued success of the Rocky Mountain Life Science Investor
and Partnering Conference, attracting investors from all over the
country. She leaves CBSA in a strong position, and although we will miss
her, we look forward to identifying a new leader who can build on all
she has accomplished.”
April Giles, President & CEO of CBSA, says:
“I’m
grateful to the CBSA board of directors for their confidence in me and
their commitment to collaboration. It’s been a highlight of my career to
work with this talented group of industry leaders and the broader
community. I’m especially proud of the comprehensive market research
work we did in 2016 to better understand the sector’s needs. It led to
new initiatives providing better access to investors and funding for our
companies, providing a foundation for future growth. I wish the board,
our members and our CBSA team much success as they continue to grow and
serve Colorado’s bioscience sector.”
Following today’s announcement, the CBSA Board of Directors will form a search committee to conduct a broad search for a new leader.
Giles will continue to work in the bioscience sector in a new role as Vice President, Business Development at the Fitzsimons Innovation Community.
