CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SAMDI Tech Inc., the industry’s leading provider of label-free drug discovery solutions, is pleased to announce that Dr. Milan Mrksich, founder of SAMDI Tech and professor at Northwestern University, has been selected to serve as a scientific advisor for SLAS Technology. A rigorously peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS), SLAS Technology is devoted to the advancement of technology for life sciences and biomedical research and development.
Dr. Mrksich, inventor of the SAMDI technology, joins other elite members of the scientific community in his service on the advisory board. Over the course of his five-year term, Dr. Mrksich will advise the journal on technology trends in the field.
“Milan’s accomplishments are highly regarded in the scientific community,” said SAMDI Tech CEO Emilio Córdova, Ph.D., MBA. “His appointment to serve on this advisory committee reflects his innovation, commitment and leadership. We are proud he is a part of our team.”
SAMDI (Self-Assembled Monolayer Desorption Ionization) technology was first described by Dr. Mrksich in 2002 as a solution to the challenges and pitfalls of label-dependent biochemical assays. Dr. Mrksich found that self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) could be analyzed by Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry, a key discovery that provided the foundation for the label-free and high-throughput SAMDI assay.
