ESP Gaming Brings Fight Night to Competitive Gaming with the Introduction of the World Showdown of Esports

Launch Party to Take Place in Las Vegas July 14-15 with The PUBG Pan-Continental; Official Series Kicks Off This Fall

LAS VEGAS--()--ESP Gaming, the world’s premier competitive gaming content creation company, today announced the World Showdown of Esports (WSOE), a multi-genre esports tournament series featuring fight card-style matches that showcase the best games, players and teams across the globe. The first event in the series, WSOE 1, will take place this fall at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas where the first ever WSOE Champion will be crowned. To celebrate the announcement, the WSOE in partnership with Auzom will present a special live event, The PUBG Pan-Continental, broadcast live on Twitch July 14-15 from the PokerGO Studio with special guests and players from FaZe Clan, Team Vitality, Team Envy, OpTic Gaming, Tempo Storm and more competing in PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG).

The WSOE focuses on the drama and spectacle of head-to-head competition between the world’s best players from a variety of genres and games across mobile, PC and console. Taking its inspiration from boxing and mixed martial arts, the WSOE will crown champions in several competitive divisions. Uniquely in the world of esports, and unlike round-robin or bracket-style esports competitions, the WSOE’s “fight card” style presentations will feature compelling matchups of champions and challengers going head-to-head in every event. Also featuring innovative prizing and production elements designed to reward aggressive gameplay and foster rivalries, the WSOE’s bouts will offer fans the most entertaining broadcasts in competitive gaming.

“ESP Gaming is bringing a new type of esports tournament to the gaming community that ensures every single match is a must-see event featuring top competitors in a drama-filled showdown,” said ESP Gaming president, Jeff Liboon. “The WSOE will highlight the most compelling narratives in competitive gaming driven by the very essence of what makes traditional sports so popular, the players. The WSOE will represent what gamers really love about esports with the intensity turned up to the max.”

Veteran esports journalist, former ELEAGUE host and well-known esports analyst Richard Lewis has joined ESP Gaming as the Director of Talent and will oversee the on-air personalities for WSOE streaming and live events. Lewis brings innovative perspectives and unparalleled experience to esports fans across the world.

“With the WSOE, we’re completely flipping the script on the traditional esports tournament format in a way that has never been done in competitive gaming,” said Lewis. “The WSOE’s unique format allows us to create the matches that competitors and fans want to see and that the competitors want to engage in. We look forward to re-imagining and growing the sport of competitive gaming and crowning our first WSOE Champion this fall.”

WSOE fight cards will be broadcast live from ESP Gaming’s PokerGO Studio. The 10,000+ square-foot facility gives ESP Gaming unrivaled esports production capabilities, including the ability to stream live events for a variety of games while continuing to offer best-in-class esports content for live and delayed viewing.

The PUBG Pan-Continental, Presented by Auzom and the WSOE, will be broadcast live on www.twitch.tv/wsoe from July 14-15, where 16 teams of four players will compete for $100,000 in cash prizes. Invited teams include top players from the Auzom Premier League and other world-class PUBG organizations.

More information about future WSOE events, including schedules, rules, formats and games, as well as participating players and teams, will be shared soon.
