COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CareCredit, a leading provider of promotional financing for healthcare, named three experts to its newly created Healthcare Advisory Council, a group designed to support and shape the innovative healthcare solutions CareCredit is developing to address today’s healthcare challenges. The Council will work alongside CareCredit’s executive leadership team to provide insight on the continually changing medical payment landscape, insurance coverage and the technology associated with the growing focus on patient payments.

Dr. Pat A. Basu — As a business leader and healthcare entrepreneur, Dr. Basu has served as a senior executive in the corporate, government, private equity and clinical sectors. A former Stanford Physician and White House Advisor, Pat is currently a partner at Chicago Pacific Founders Private Equity. He previously served as a member of the executive leadership team of United Health Group and Senior Vice President of Optum. He led 9,000+ team members and was responsible for a $9 billion P&L including its physician practices and population health businesses.
Dr. Steven Merahn — As a chief medical officer for Centria Health, Dr. Merahn has successfully led efforts to meet Triple Aim goals and transform organizations and communities. He’s a change agent whose broad range of expertise in healthcare organization gives him unique insights to help shape better outcomes for patients and providers. His diverse industry experience has included work in government, non-profit and corporate sectors including executive and strategic leadership in communications, information services, and both the provider and payer sides of the healthcare industry.
Debbie Welle-Powell — With over twenty years-experience in executive healthcare positions within multi-state regions, and developing new products and payment models with employers, carriers and state and federal agencies. She is currently the chief population health officer for Essentia Health and is responsible for working with market leaders and community stakeholders to develop a community-based population health and risk sharing model focused on early interventions, and payer partnerships. Prior to Essentia, Debbie was the Vice President of Accountable Care and Payer Strategy for SCL Health System.
