NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Metaurus Advisors LLC, a leading financial technology and innovation company, announced the appointment of Michael K. Hirai, CFA, as senior managing director and partner. With more than 30 years of experience in asset management, Hirai will focus on business development in the institutional and private wealth markets.
Hirai has served in senior management roles with Los Angeles- and Hawaii-based investment advisory firms. Most recently, Hirai was senior vice president at First Hawaiian Bank (FHB), where he managed the Institutional Advisory Services Division. Under his supervision, the Institutional Advisory Services Division was recognized as a top performing fixed income asset manager in Hawaii and the U.S. and was responsible for $11 billion of client assets in asset management, custody, asset servicing, and trust employee benefit services.
Prior to joining FHB, Hirai founded the fixed income asset management firm, HCM Capital in 1990, which later merged with CIC Asset Management, a Los Angeles-based asset manager in 2000. In 2004, his firm was acquired by Bishop Street Capital Management, where he served as the president, CEO and chief investment officer for more than thirteen years. Over the course of his career, Hirai also held positions with the international accounting firms of Ernst and Young and KPMG.
Hirai is active in the community currently serving as a trustee of the University of Hawaii Foundation, member of the Legacy Council of the U.S.-Japan Council, director of CFA Society Hawaii, and executive board member of the Aloha Council, Boy Scouts of America. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii, Shidler College of Business and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business.
