NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, FanDuel announced the launch of World Soccer Pick’em, presented by GameCredits. This is FanDuel’s first fully integrated fantasy U.S. product for a global sporting event. Soccer fans will now have access to a wide range of fantasy contests for the World Cup, including a free-to-enter game and paid daily fantasy contests. FanDuel’s World Soccer Pick’em will be available by Thursday, June 7th on FanDuel.com and on the FanDuel app.
Each day of the World Cup, players will pick the winners and scores of each World Soccer Pick’em match for a chance at $135,000 in prizes. Prizing will include FanDuel cash and GAME from GameCredits, a universal cryptocurrency and virtual wallet for gamers around the globe. Can players predict the winner and the correct scores in the opener between Russia and Saudi Arabia? Who will be victorious in the highly anticipated Portugal vs. Spain in the premier matchup on the second day? Building off of FanDuel’s soccer product for the English Premier League, FanDuel will offer a myriad of options for the World Cup, including standard daily fantasy contests for a full slate of matches, as well as single game matchups. In typical daily fantasy fashion, each player on the pitch will be assigned a monetary value and users will have to select a five-person roster that fits under a salary cap. The largest international soccer tournament will debut FanDuel’s new scoring format, which was adjusted to make play more appealing to all users to play. FanDuel users will no longer receive points for passes, fouls drawn, cards and penalty saves, while adding defensive clean sheets.
“The excitement of the world’s biggest sporting event doesn’t stop just because the U.S. didn’t make it,” said Nik Bonaddio, Head of Product, FanDuel. “World Soccer Pick’em is simple - pick a winner and pick the final score. What could be better than the beautiful game and the chance to win some awesome prizes?”
