SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--EY today announced that Chris Klomp, chief executive officer, Adam Green, chief technology officer, and Wylie van den Akker, chief information security officer of Collective Medical, provider of the nation’s largest and most effective network for care collaboration, won the Health and Life Sciences category at the Entrepreneur Of The Year 2018 Utah Region Awards. As the world’s most prestigious business awards program for entrepreneurs, Entrepreneur Of The Year recognizes business leaders who are excelling in areas such as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Chris, Adam and Wylie were selected by a panel of independent judges, and the award was presented at a special black tie Gala on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.
Collective is based on an idea sparked by Patti Green, an emergency department (ED) social worker and Adam’s mother. Since then, childhood friends Chris, Adam and Wylie have led the delivery of the nation’s largest care collaboration network and Collective’s real-time, risk-adjusted event notification and care coordination platform. The company now serves every national health plan in the country, hundreds of hospitals and health systems, and tens of thousands of providers.
“This award transcends the three of us, though we feel such gratitude to receive it,” said Chris Klomp, CEO of Collective Medical. “It is a testament to our mission, to the entire Collective team, to the needs of millions of patients who try, yet fail, to navigate a complex healthcare landscape on their own, and perhaps most importantly, to the selfless pursuit of our thousands of provider partners who daily use our software to find the most vulnerable among us and work to collectively catch them before they fall.”
Use of the Collective network has been proven to improve patient outcomes and lower healthcare costs on an impressive scale. In a Brookings Institution review of Medicaid patients who visited emergency rooms in Washington state, use of Collective’s network and platform was one of the core strategies responsible for lowering the number of ED visits by patients with patterns of high ED utilization. By partnering with Collective to focus on these patients, the state reduced opioid prescriptions coming out of the ED by 24 percent, and reported $34 million in savings and a decline of 9.9 percent in ED visits within the program’s first year of use.
Now in its 32nd year, the Entrepreneur Of The Year program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 145 cities and more than 60 countries throughout the world.
