KCI Announces Addition to Leading Suite of Digital Wound Care Technologies with the Launch of Nurse2Nurse App Designed Specifically for Wound Care Nurses

This new online professional community underscores KCI’s commitment to leverage digital technology, connectivity and clinical education in order to advance the practice of wound care

SAN ANTONIO--()--KCI, an Acelity Company, today announced the U.S. launch of the Nurse2Nurse (N2N) Mobile App, a one-of-a-kind digital community by and for wound care nurses. Developed in close collaboration with leading professionals around the country, the N2N App is a HIPAA-compliant closed clinical community where nurses can ask questions and share credible insights and information with trusted peers.

“At KCI, we have a long-standing history of collaboration with clinicians to provide solutions that resolve some of their most pressing unmet needs,” said Ron Silverman, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, KCI. “Feedback and interaction from nursing leaders helped us identify a need for a digital community where wound care nurses can compliantly share information, best practices and instantly connect with fellow clinicians. Our goal is to leverage digital technology and connectivity in order to drive improvement in patient care and outcomes on behalf of these wound care nurses who serve on the front lines.”

The N2N platform is led by nurse leaders who pose industry relevant discussions and questions to the N2N community. During the past six months, more than 500 clinicians have participated in the pilot phase and contributed suggestions and improvements incorporated by KCI in preparation prior to launch. Conversations in the App are completely managed by wound care nurses and moderators.

“The N2N App has the potential to improve how we interact as clinicians and consult and collaborate for our patients,” said Elizabeth (Liz) McElroy, RN, MSN, CRNP, CWS, CWOCN-AP, In-Patient Wound, Ostomy and Continence Specialist at Reading Hospital and an active N2N nurse leader during the pilot phase. “There is no other tool available that allows us to consult and collaborate with fellow wound care nurses so quickly and easily, making it an extremely valuable educational asset. It is also great to connect with other wound care clinicians on non-patient related topics, such as education, certification, and policy development to name a few. This app bridges the gap of social media platforms to meet the wound care clinicians needs.”

“Acelity is the largest wound care company in the world,” said R. Andrew Eckert, president and CEO of Acelity. “We take that position very seriously. As a leader, it is our responsibility to continue to challenge the boundaries of wound care so that we may improve the lives of those afflicted and improve the ability of clinicians to provide care.”

The N2N App launched at the 2018 Annual Conference of the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN), an international professional nursing society founded in 1968 that represents more than 5,000 healthcare professionals trained in the care of patients with ostomy, incontinence and wounds. The App is available to all wound care nurses through Google Play and the Apple App Store.
