NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BTIG, LLC announced today that Gil Ottensoser has joined the firm as a Managing Director to lead the SPAC Banking and Capital Markets effort. Based in New York, Mr. Ottensoser will report into Charles Mather, CFA, Head of Capital Markets Origination, and Matt Clark, Chief Operating Officer, BTIG Investment Banking.
The addition of an experienced SPAC-focused professional within the banking division will strengthen and enhance BTIG’s existing banking capabilities for institutional and corporate clients. With an established SPAC trading presence in place already, BTIG will continue to identify and hire talent to service clients concentrated on SPAC opportunities.
“Gil’s vast experience and deep understanding of the SPAC universe will help to offer important transactional intelligence,” said Anton LeRoy, Chief Operating Officer of BTIG. “Over the last few years, the market for SPAC underwriting, trading and M&A activity has experienced significant growth. We believe expansion into this space will be a meaningful complement to our existing banking and capital markets offering, and that Gil is an excellent choice to lead the effort.”
Prior to BTIG, Mr. Ottensoser was a Managing Director at Shorebridge Capital, focused on advisory and capital raising solutions. Previously, he held multiple roles at Deutsche Bank, including Managing Director, Head of North American Capital Introduction, and Head of SPAC Sales and Distribution, where he assisted in the origination of new SPAC issuances. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ottensoser specialized in SPAC underwritings, trading, and related M&A advisory transactions as a Co-Founder of Legend Merchant Group.
“Gil brings more than 15 years of SPAC experience to the firm,” noted Mr. Clark. “His insight and analytical proficiency will help clients navigate the SPAC landscape, structure transactions and optimize opportunities for growth.”
