BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ivenix, a medical technology company with the vision of eliminating infusion-related patient harm, today announced it will showcase its innovative infusion system and offer continuing education sessions at the 2018 National Teaching Institute (NTI) and Critical Care Exposition, which takes place from May 21 to May 24 in Boston.
Infusion-related errors are responsible for 54 percent of the approximately 1.5 million adverse drug events reported to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) annually. Sixty-one percent of those adverse events are reported to be serious or life-threatening. The Ivenix Infusion System includes a large volume infusion pump with intuitive infusion delivery designed to inform clinical workflow, enhance patient experience and help improve patient safety.
Ivenix will host the following 30-minute continuing education sessions during the NTI ExpoEd at Booth 1905. Sign up for sessions here.
- “Rethinking Infusion Delivery: A New Approach to Infusion Pump Accuracy to Improve Patient Safety” will explore external conditions that impact large volume pump flow accuracy and analyze the clinical impact if variations in fluid delivery occur. Sessions will take place Tuesday, May 22 at 12:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.; Wednesday, May 23 at 11:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.; and Thursday, May 24 at 10:15 a.m.
- “Making the Journey to Infusion Pump Interoperability” will share practical approaches to supporting health system efforts toward smart infusion pump integration with the EMR and other hospital information systems. Sessions will take place on Tuesday, May 22 at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.; Wednesday, May 23 at 10:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.; and Thursday, May 24 at 9:30 a.m.
Susan Niemeier, chief nursing officer at Ivenix, said, “To deliver medication safely, today’s nurses are forced to know almost as much about the anatomy of the pumps as the anatomy of their patients. At Ivenix, we imagined an infusion pump that doesn’t get in the way of patient care and that optimizes workflow. Nurses are the frontline users of infusion pumps, and we are proud to participate in this year’s NTI ExpoEd to provide continuing education opportunities around current topics in infusion pump safety, performance and interoperability.”
With the Ivenix Infusion System, nurses can manage multiple tasks while continually being connected with their patients’ infusion progress through near real-time infusion details accessible on their mobile devices. The infusion system integrates with the electronic medical record and aims to minimize programming and transcription errors, optimizing the patient record and care.
The Ivenix Infusion System’s adaptive fluid delivery reduces flow and accuracy variability to help improve patient safety. Its patient-centered design benefits patients because clinicians spend less time troubleshooting pumps or resolving nuisance alarms, simplifying every step of infusion delivery for nurses.
