CURE® Magazine Names 2018 Extraordinary Healer® Award Finalists

The award recognizes and honors three notable oncology nurses

CRANBURY, N.J.--()--CURE® magazine, the nation’s leading digital and print media enterprise focused on cancer patients, proudly announces Elizabeth Davis, RN, B.S.N., CPN, Jackie Miller, RN, B.S.N., OCN and Christine Stone, RN, M.S.N., OCN, as the three finalists for the 2018 Extraordinary Healer® Award for Oncology Nursing.

The finalists for the 2018 Extraordinary Healer® Award for Oncology Nursing — all registered nurses — are:

  • Elizabeth Davis, who works at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. With just five years’ experience, she is recognized by her team for her strong determination to improve the lives of the patients. She has helped implement a variety of initiatives, including the Baxter Animated Retching Faces (BARF) scale, which offers an easier way for children to communicate their nausea levels.
  • Jackie Miller, who manages the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Program based in Virtua, which offers health screenings for uninsured residents of Burlington and Camden counties in New Jersey. With over 22 years of oncology nursing experience, Miller is known as a quick problem solver. Inspired by her own experience, she created Camp Oasis, which provides a fun-filled day for children who have parents or loved ones battling cancer.
  • Christine Stone, serves as an oncology nurse navigator at Inova Loudoun Hospital’s Life with Cancer program, the psychosocial and educational arm of the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Virginia Prior to her current role, she has dedicated her 27 years of nursing in the oncology field. Stone says that she learns something every day from her patients as she walks along the journey with them.
