BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Billshark, the leading bill reduction platform, today announced that “Shark Tank” star Mark Cuban is now backing and advising the company. Billshark enables consumers and businesses to quickly and easily reduce monthly bills including TV, wireless, internet, satellite TV, and home security. Customers simply snap a picture of an existing bill, upload it using the secure Billshark app and then the company’s team of “sharks” negotiate lower monthly bills. Customers frequently save 25 percent or more, often representing hundreds of dollars in savings per year. Since launching in 2016, Billshark has saved its clients more than $10 million, and the average customer saves about $300 per bill annually.
“We were fortunate to meet Mark and he loved our practical service as well as the potential for our platform,” said Steve McKean, CEO of Billshark. “Monthly subscription bills creep-up over time, seemingly without reason, and Americans overpay for these services by about $50 billion per year. Mark provides unmatched expertise in partnerships, product development and marketing.”
Most customers know they are overpaying for many monthly services, but the process to negotiate or even cancel a subscription is arduous and unpleasant. Billshark works on behalf of its customers and doesn’t charge any fees unless it saves its customers money off their monthly bills.
“Companies that save their customers both time and money always catch my attention,” said Cuban. “Billshark eliminates the stress of negotiating or cancelling a bill, so its customers can focus on more productive and long-term goals.”
According to McKean, the company’s goal is to save consumers and small businesses more than $2.7 billion by 2025. With Cuban’s assistance, Billshark will be more visible, through its Application Programming Interface (API), in places where consumers typically pay their bills.
Also, with its eyes on the future, Billshark launched its “One Bill, One Child” program, empowering middle school students by giving them the knowledge they need to become independent, financially successful adults. More than 1,000 students completed the program during the 2017-18 school year. With every bill submitted to Billshark, the company pays for one child to receive one hour of instruction in the fundamentals of personal finance provided by Ramsey Solutions. Billshark’s goal is to educate one million children by 2025.
