Edgar Ruth founded the company in 1998 after spending 18 years in the facility maintenance industry serving in various management roles. Edgar’s vision was to revolutionize the industry and create his own legacy in the field. "Ever since college, I have envisioned myself as an entrepreneur. I didn't know what kind of company I would start, but I knew I naturally possessed the qualities of a great entrepreneur,” says Edgar. “I was determined to control my own destiny and knew that with hard work, dedication and an unwavering work ethic, I would not fail. Now, 20 years later, I can say that I'm so glad I followed my heart and took that leap of faith."
When asked about the trials he faced during his journey, Edgar said, “The biggest challenge I faced is one that I believe all entrepreneurs face - access to capital. However, I was fortunate to develop strategic partnerships during ESS' infancy stage that helped the company overcome that barrier.”
He further adds, “Another difficulty that we faced was our ability to scale quickly. We had clients that wanted to grow with us in markets outside of the southeast, but we did not have the resources to scale quickly enough to meet their demand. Now, however, we have been able to fulfill our clients' facility services needs across the United States.”
