PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Carnegie Learning announced today that the Carnegie Learning Math Solution meets federal funding requirements for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) as a Level 1 program demonstrating “Strong Evidence” of efficacy. Schools can use Title I funding to bring the power of the Carnegie Learning blended learning approach to their students.
ESSA requires that funding be used for “evidence-based” programs according to the following levelsi:
- Strong - At least one well-designed and well-implemented experimental study (i.e., randomized)
- Moderate - At least one well-designed and well-implemented quasi-experimental study (i.e., matched)
- Promising - At least one well-designed and well-implemented correlational study with statistical controls for selection bias
An independent Gold Standard study funded by the U.S. Department of Education and conducted by the RAND Corporation showed that the Carnegie Learning blended approach nearly doubled growth in performance on standardized tests relative to typical students in the second year of implementation. This study, involving more than 18,000 students in 147 schools across seven states, is more comprehensive and rigorous than any other research study on a middle school or high school mathematics program. According to John Pane, Ph.D., Senior Scientist at the RAND Corporation, “A random-controlled trial in American schools that is this broad and deep is rare. The realistic implementation, along with a very diverse sample of schools and students in the study, is important because other schools that decide to adopt the curriculum on their own might expect to see similar results.”
In addition, EdReports.org recently gave the Carnegie Learning Middle School Math Solution the highest ranking of any blended middle school math solution, with perfect scores in Focus, Coherence, Rigor and Mathematical Practices.
Building Social and Emotional Learning Skills
