DARIEN, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Remedy Partners, the nation’s leading bundled payment company, announced today an innovative collaboration with the Florida Health Care Coalition (FLHCC) that will assist coalition members in the development, implementation and administration of bundled payment programs. The program will build on the SMARTCare approach for treating patients with cardiovascular disease and will first focus on cardiovascular bundles in Orlando and then expand across the state and into additional bundles. Services provided as part of this partnership are available immediately to all FLHCC members who comprise self-insured employers and unions and represent two million covered lives.
Remedy Partners is uniquely positioned to assist self-insured employers control costs and more effectively engage provider specialists and members through bundled payment methodologies and proven solutions. In addition to building a bundled payment provider network, the company provides technology solutions that integrate into a payer’s existing benefit plans as well as a new generation of health insurance benefit plans that leverage bundled payment contracts. These episode-based health plans can achieve the premium rates equal to or below those of narrow network plans while remaining more attractive to enrollees.
The FLHCC, which advocates for improved healthcare quality throughout the state, will support its members in the adoption of these bundled payment methodologies through education, outreach and its existing bundled payment programs. Remedy Partners will analyze employer member claims data, determine opportunities and strategies for improving care efficiency, and develop and implement a customized bundled payment program.
“The timing for an employer-led bundled payment program is excellent as there is an immediate opportunity to build off the demonstrated success of Medicare’s Bundled Payment for Care Improvement initiative,” said Chris Garcia, chief executive officer of Remedy Partners. “Organizing and financing healthcare around a patient’s episode of care is proven to work. And, while these payment arrangements are improving outcomes for patients and reducing costs for payers, success is achieved without increasing mortality rates. By being an early adopter of bundled payment methodology in the commercial space, the FLHCC is demonstrating leadership in improving healthcare for its members, and we are proud to be their partner contributing our extensive experience in managing over $13 billion of episode spending over the last five years.”
“The FLHCC is solely dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare for all Americans by setting an example in Florida of adopting innovative methods for improving cost and quality of healthcare,” said Karen van Caulil, president and chief executive officer of the FLHCC. “We strongly believe that bundled payments and associated episode health plans will be a large component of the future of healthcare, and we are pleased that Remedy Partners will help us bring this innovation to our members.”
