Sedona Systems Accelerates Path to Service-Aware Network with New Product Release at OFC

New NetFusion Hierarchical SDN Controller enables rapid service creation and assurance across multilayer, multi-domain networks

CUPERTINO, Calif.--()--Sedona Systems™, the global leader in multilayer network automation and control, today announced its new Hierarchical Network Controller product. The new solution automatically discovers, provisions and optimizes L0-L3 services across multilayer, multivendor, multi-domain networks, allowing service providers to benefit fully from next generation software-defined networks and to realize the vision of automated service creation and assurance.

The role of the Hierarchical Network Controller is emerging as pivotal to the success of deploying SDN in real-world service provider networks that consist of equipment and software systems operating at many layers and from multiple vendors. The controller is “hierarchical” because it exists at the top level of the network control layer above domain controllers from packet and transport vendors.

The NetFusion Hierarchical Network Controller presents a single interface and simplified view of the network to service orchestrators and OSS products, and provides end-end network control and policy management by interacting with domain controllers from multiple IP and transport vendors. This results in a service-aware network that is able to provision and assure based on the unique needs of each service, rather than simply improving overall traffic flow.

In initial implementations, service providers are using the new NetFusion product as a single “pane of glass” for provisioning L0-3 services, without having to configure every layer, domain and vendor separately, and allowing services to be provisioned in minutes. By contrast, manual multilayer provisioning processes that are used in current networks can take weeks to complete.

“Service-aware networks are becoming particularly important as new consumer and enterprise applications require transport networks to efficiently support a range of different service types with widely varying bandwidth, performance, and availability requirements. They will become even more valuable as 5G applications mature,” said Ori Gerstel, CTO at Sedona. “We developed the new NetFusion Hierarchical Network Controller specifically to enable the benefits of service-awareness and we’re very pleased with the performance we’ve seen in recent customer verification testing.”

OFC & Layer123 Showcase

Sedona team representatives will present the new NetFusion Hierarchical Network Controller at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference in San Diego (March 13-15) in booth 5507. Sedona will also show the controller at the Layer123 Zero Touch & Carrier Automation Congress in Madrid (March 21-23) in booth 12.

About Sedona Systems

Sedona Systems NetFusion is a set of transformative network intelligence & automation solutions, powered by unique network-derived service-to-fiber visibility. NetFusion software automatically discovers the packet and transport layers (L0-L3) of service provider networks and uses this unique real-time visibility and deep analytics to optimize and automate network control. With multilayer awareness and multivendor, multidomain support, Sedona’s applications boost effective WAN capacity, ensure network resiliency, enable new services, and accelerate the path to SDN benefits.

Sedona is headquartered in California and has solutions deployed in the production networks of Tier 1 and Tier 2 service providers globally.
