HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today unveiled brand new Tech Center makeovers at two Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston locations, as well as a technology donation to a third Club, that were the worst damaged during Hurricane Harvey. To date, Samsung has donated technology and resources valued at over $300,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston. These in-kind donations are a part of the $1,000,000 gifted to the Houston community immediately following Hurricane Harvey.
Young members of all three clubs were surprised with the latest in Samsung technology, including laptops, tablets, and televisions. As part of the Tech Center makeovers, a dedicated area in both the Spring Branch and Stafford Clubs was also overhauled with new flooring, furniture, and fixtures, including flexible seating that can be rearranged to best meet the studying needs of the students. Each of the Tech Centers was designed to be modern and functional spaces for the Boys & Girls Club members to be able to interact with technology and focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education.
Samsung, a long-time partner of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), worked closely with Greater Houston Clubs to help transform locations that were the most in need following the storm. Both the Spring Branch and Stafford Clubs suffered flooding that not only impacted the Clubs, but also members’ homes in the surrounding areas. The Galveston Club endured significant damage to their roof, doors, and windows and is currently undergoing renovations.
