ibex Opens Caribbean Headquarters in Kingston, Jamaica

ibex is now occupying three floors in the Digicel Caribbean and Central America headquarters building

KINGSTON, Jamaica--()--ibex, a leading provider of contact center services and other business process outsourcing (BPO) solutions, held a grand opening event for a new center in Kingston’s picturesque waterfront district, located in the Digicel Building at 14 Ocean Boulevard. Within the initial 60 days of operations, ibex already employs over 400 customer service agents and management at the new location.

The company celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with invited guests including Minister Vaz, Minister without Portfolio, Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation. The event was concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception.

The new center, dubbed ibex Waterfront, will be the Caribbean and Central America’s headquarters for the rapidly expanding company. The building, currently Digicel’s headquarters for the Caribbean and Central America, has 10 floors, a food court, first aid station and gym. The building is the most energy-efficient office building in the Caribbean using solar power and geothermal cooling systems.

“Our new center gives us the ability to add 1,200 more employees to our existing base of over 2,000, who are currently employed in Portmore,” said Bob Dechant, CEO of ibex. “We are very excited about our partnership with Digicel as they have been very accommodating and welcoming throughout the entire process.”

“We are happy to welcome ibex to our headquarters building,” said Vanessa Slowey, Digicel CEO, Caribbean and Central America. “We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding partnership with them.”

In July 2016, ibex opened their current location in Portmore, and recently expanded by an additional 23,000 square feet in October, 2017. The company continues to work towards the goal of hiring over 5,000 in Jamaica.

Jamaica offers a business-friendly environment and a large, educated labor pool which ibex has found resonates with clients. The company will continue to explore additional expansion opportunities.
