LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Legion M, the world’s first fan-owned entertainment company, will celebrate filmmakers, films and fans at the Sundance Film Festival. With support from sponsors, including Cinemark’s (NYSE: CNK) innovative Movie Club membership program, the Legion M Lounge will be open from Thursday, January 18, to Sunday, January 21.
Located at Red Banjo Pizza Parlour, 322 Main Street, the Legion M Lounge will be open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily to all registered festival-goers, though space is strictly limited: To secure a spot in the Legion M Lounge, guests are requested to sign up in advance on the Legion M website; additional entry may be granted at the site on a space-available basis.
On Thursday night, January 18, the Legion M Lounge will be the site of a special invitation-only reception for Sundance Midnight selection MANDY. Along with SpectreVision, XYZ Films and Umedia, Legion M is a production partner on MANDY, a highly-anticipated thriller by director Panos Cosmatos and starring Nicolas Cage.
MANDY will have its first official screening at the Sundance Film Festival at 11:59 p.m. Friday, January 19.
The Legion M Lounge will also be home to an ongoing series of live streaming interviews hosted by film critic, historian and Legion M adviser Leonard Maltin and by Movie Pilot’s Russ Fischer. Reaching more than 30 million fans through digital and social channels, the combination of Legion M and Movie Pilot will bring a unique fan-driven perspective as Maltin and Fischer interview filmmakers and actors from such films as MANDY, Summer of ’84, Clara’s Ghost, Hearts Beat Loud, Beirut and Assassination Nation, among others. Interviews will take place between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, January 19 through Sunday, January 21, and will be available to view on Movie Pilot’s various channels.
On Sunday, January 21, the Legion M Lounge plays host to one of indie film’s most influential voices, Chris Gore’s Film Threat. From 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Gore will podcast live, discussing the films premiering at Sundance and the talented filmmakers behind them. Fans can listen to the podcast on iTunes. Then, from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., Chris Gore, in partnership with Legion M, will close down the Legion M Lounge with the Film Threat Sucks party.
All weekend inside the Legion M Lounge, guests will be able to learn more about Cinemark Movie Club, a unique monthly in-theatre membership program offering exclusive benefits such as ticket and concession discounts for members and friends for just $8.99 per month.
