ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Reflecting the expanding digital health presence at CES® 2018, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced the Disruptive Innovations in Healthcare conference track to address technology’s increasing role in healthcare, drawing more medical professionals - including physicians, health insurers and hospital executives - than ever to CES. Owned and produced by CTA, CES is the world’s largest and most influential tech event, taking place in Las Vegas, Nev., January 9-12, 2018.
The half-day workshop on Jan. 9 will feature Chief Medical Officers, CEOs and other speakers from the Mayo Clinic, Samsung, Johnson & Johnson, Omron Healthcare, Walgreens, 2breath Technologies and more. The sessions will address topics such as technology’s critical role in healthcare access and delivery; how high-tech is transforming preventative and personal healthcare; and the impact of digital therapeutics in limiting the use of pharmaceuticals.
The conference will unveil the forthcoming findings of a CTA and PCHAlliance digital therapeutics research report, presented by CTA’s senior manager of market research, Lesley Rohrbaugh and Patty Mechael, executive director of the PCHAlliance. Digital therapeutics, commonly defined as technology that can improve a person’s health equal to a drug, but without the same costs and side-effects, can empower individuals to change their behavior and improve their health.
“Technology has an unprecedented opportunity to empower individuals to lead healthier lives, take care of loved ones and communicate better with our doctors,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president, CES and corporate business strategy, CTA. “The discussions and technology on display at CES 2018 will focus on addressing real issues like chronic disease, opioid dependence and insomnia. We’re excited for another year of expanded presence for digital health at CES 2018.”
Additionally, the Digital Health Summit, presented by Living In Digital Times, will return for two-days of discussions covering topics such as brain health and addiction, sleep technology, augmented and virtual reality, personalized medicine and wellness. Speakers include the founder and executive director of Neuroscape, CEO of Canary Health, CMO of Teladoc and many more.
There will be two dedicated areas at CES 2018 including the Health & Wellness and Fitness & Technology Marketplaces spanning over 63,000 NSF of combined exhibit space. Top exhibitors include Aftershokz, Fitbit, IBM, LifeFuels, Nokia Health Technologies and Philips. From Baby Tech to Sleep Tech to Accessibility Marketplaces, digital health technology will permeate across the CES 2018 show floor.
