MADISON, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Anthem), announced today that it has received approval from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) to expand its service area to seven additional Wisconsin counties where it will offer health care coverage for individuals and families enrolled in BadgerCare Plus and Medicaid Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The expansion will ensure that Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid members will have access to a broad network of healthcare services and supports throughout the entire state.
Effective January 1, 2018, members living in Ashland, Bayfield, Iron, Pepin, Price and Sawyer counties will have access to Anthem’s service offerings. Medicaid members living in Iowa county will have access to Anthem Medicaid plans effective May 1, 2018, at which time Anthem will be the only Medicaid managed care organization offering coverage in every Wisconsin county.

BadgerCare Plus is for pregnant women, children age 19 and under, and adults who meet income requirements. Medicaid SSI is for Wisconsin residents who receive SSI and offers extra support to adults with special health care needs or a disability.
Anthem plans are currently available to BadgerCare Plus and Medicaid SSI members in 65 of 72 Wisconsin counties.
