ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ecolab Inc., a global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, was recognized as one of America’s Most Just Companies by Forbes magazine and JUST Capital, a nonprofit that ranks the largest publicly traded U.S. corporations on the issues Americans care about most. Ecolab was recognized for outperforming its peers on criteria including worker pay and treatment, job creation, healthy products and communities, and environmental impact.
“We’re honored by this recognition,” said Ecolab Chairman and CEO Douglas M. Baker, Jr. “We have long believed that by aligning our economic, environmental and social priorities, we perform better as a business, and that by delivering on these priorities, we help make the world a better place for everyone.”
For the 2017 list, JUST Capital surveyed 10,000 Americans, asking what factors are most important for companies to prioritize. Survey respondents said American companies should prioritize, in order of importance, workers, customers, products, the environment, communities, jobs, management and shareholders.
JUST Capital then evaluated the performance of 1,000 publicly traded companies against those priorities and created the ranking model that drives the America’s Most Just Companies list. The companies were drawn from the Russell 1000 Index, which represents over 90 percent of the U.S. stock market value.
