CARSON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Digital health company Rally Health, Inc. and Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon hosted a fun-filled "Holiday Bike Build" at StubHub Center today for 150 kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson. Gordon, who is a Health Ambassador for Rally Health, participated with the kids in the after-school event designed to inspire the kids to adopt healthy habits and focus on their education. Among the event's many activities, the kids were joined by Gordon and pro-riders from Rally CyclingSM in building and decorating brand new Diamondback bikes that they got to take home.
"This is the second year that Rally Health and I have hosted a 'Holiday Bike Build,' and I can honestly say that there's nothing more rewarding than connecting with the kids and talking with them about healthy living and staying in school, and – best of all – seeing their total joy when they get their new bikes," said Gordon.
Gordon welcomed the kids to the event with a conversation about health and education before he and volunteers from StubHub Center led the children through a variety of fitness activities including football drills, potato-sack races and hippity-hop races. Next, the kids enjoyed health snacks from Clif Bar, and then helped build and decorate their new bikes and got fitted for their new Bell helmets.
Rally® partnered with Diamondback Bikes and Rally Cycling pro-riders Brad Huff, Matteo Dal-Cin, Rob Britton, Jesse Anthony and mechanics to prepare the bikes and help the kids put the finishing touches on them before taking a bike ride around the StubHub Center concourse. After the ride, the kids were treated to a hot meal provided by AEG and StubHub Center before joining Gordon on a tour of StubHub Center.
"These kids really look up to Melvin. When he talks about the importance of staying healthy, they listen. It's our hope that their experience with him today will help them start setting the fundamentals of good health, including getting lots of exercise, especially now with their new bikes," said David Ko, Rally Health president and COO.
Rally and Gordon's second annual "Holiday Bike Build" was hosted in collaboration with AEG and StubHub Center.
