HUDSON, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--YouThisMe, a mobile health technology company, today announced it has established a technology partnership with OpenTeleHealth, a developer of cloud-based remote patient monitoring (RPM) platforms for hospitals and health care providers in Europe and North America.
YouThisMe has developed an iOS client customized for OpenTeleHealth’s existing RPM platform that to date has only been compatible with Android operating systems. The RPM technology automates the reading of a variety of biometric devices so that clinicians can remotely monitor the vital signs of patients following discharge to their homes or to post-acute care settings.
“The partnership between YouThisMe and OpenTeleHealth is mutually beneficial to the development of each company’s technology as well as the applicability of our respective platforms to providers and their patients,” said Seth Lachterman, a partner and co-founder of YouThisMe.
Providers are increasingly turning to remote patient monitoring systems to improve care coordination, reduce rates of rehospitalization, and lower costs. According to a 2017 survey of hospitals by HIMSS Analytics, 80 percent of respondents said they use tablets to coordinate and provide patient care, while 43 percent use smartphones. Almost all tablets and smartphones run on the Apple iOS or Android mobile operating systems.
YouThisMe’s seamless, HIPAA-compliant remote patient monitoring system, UTM:RPM, enables hospitals and health systems to remotely manage common chronic conditions such as congestive heart failure, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), diabetes and pneumonia.
The increased functionality of OpenTeleHealth will enable YouThisMe to significantly expand the number of patients served, in part because of the user-configurable questionnaires and monitoring plans that are native to OpenTeleHealth’s platform.
“We are extremely excited about collaborating with YouThisMe and bringing our years of large-scale RPM experience from Denmark to hospitals, health systems and other providers in the U.S. market,” said Henrik Ibsen, CEO of OpenTeleHealth. “Between us, we have a unique and powerful system that can help create efficiencies in resources and drive meaningful change in how and where health care is delivered.”
With the iOS client created by YouThisMe, OpenTeleHealth will be able to expand its platform to an entirely new universe of mobile devices. OpenTeleHealth provides a simple, scalable platform in which physicians and nurses access patient data through a web portal, while patients measure their own health data at home using an app on a mobile device, along with a variety of medical measurement devices. The platform is effective in remote patient monitoring and management of many conditions, including diabetes, COPD, hypertension, asthma, pregnancy and congestive heart failure.
