Drift Launches the First Platform Built on the Real-Time Voice of the Customer

Leader in Conversational Marketing opens platform for developers to build bots and integrations for marketing and sales teams.

BOSTON--()--Drift, the world’s first and only conversational marketing and sales platform, today introduced the Drift Platform, which will provide developers with the tools they need to build apps and integrations on top of Drift.

“We’re on a mission to make it easier for people to buy from businesses, but that problem is massive and we can’t solve it alone,” said Drift Founder & CEO David Cancel. “Opening our platform to developers means we can provide our customers with all of the tools they need to grow their business, even if that is something that doesn’t come out of the box with Drift today. We exist to serve our customers, and we strongly believe that opening up our platform will give them even more opportunities to succeed.”

The Drift Platform is the first platform that will allow developers to build apps and integrations based on the words that prospects and customers are actually using in real-time -- not just on past behavior like emails, pageviews, and other product behavior.

“There are over 5,000 products in the marketing and sales ecosystem today, and as a result, every business has a different stack,” said Drift Founder & CTO Elias Torres. “We don’t want to hold any company back from unlocking the power of conversations, so we wanted to open our API to developers to ensure that all of the tools that Drift customers are using play well together, and that data can flow freely between systems.”

Bots, Integrations, And The Drift App Directory

Bots are at the core of Conversational Marketing, and now developers will have the tools they need to build their own bots right on top of Drift.

One example of this is a bot built using Drift and the Google Cloud Translation API that allows users to type “/translate” into a Drift conversation and send a response back in the appropriate language. Another example is a bot using Drift and the Giphy API that lets users insert GIFs directly into Drift conversations via the “/giphy” command.

The launch of the Drift Platform also makes it easy for any company in the marketing and sales ecosystem to integrate with Drift, and in addition to featuring new apps and integrations in the new Drift App Directory, the Drift marketing team has pledged to do co-marketing with the first 10 partners that build on top of Drift.

“We want to make a commitment to the partners that build and integrate with us at Drift, so we’re offering up our marketing team to help,” said Cancel. “Our marketing team will be your marketing team, and we’ll help you launch and promote your new bot or integration and throw the full power of the Drift marketing team behind it.”

In addition to giving partners the ability to build integrations, Drift customers will also be able to build their own integrations and customize Drift to match their needs -- whether that’s creating new rules and logic to match internal workflows, or creating internal commands and shortcuts that can be used right inside of Drift conversations.

The Drift Platform is available to everyone starting today.
