LOS ANGELES--()--The Advanced Imaging Society (AIS), the leading industry association exploring the next generation of visual technology and emerging content, has added a special honor for 10 notable women in the technology field to its 2018 Technology Awards.

The Society’s globally recognized Lumiere Awards will be presented to technologies or processes that have demonstrated both innovation and impact in advancing the creation or delivery of quality content.

A luncheon honoring this year's innovators will be held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 16th, 2018, presented by Cisco and Dell. We encourage our professional colleagues and organizations to submit work which they feel is worthy of being recognized with our highest annual honor. Past winners include Sony Electronics, Mercedes Benz, Dolby Labs, AMC Theaters, Weta Digital, and Deluxe.

"As the Media and Entertainment industry is rapidly adopting cloud and IP technologies for simplifying and accelerating media production, delivery and consumption, Cisco is proud to be a trusted partner in this transition,” said Dave Ward, CTO of Engineering and Chief Architect at Cisco.

The judging panel includes some top thought leaders in the industry: AIS Chair of Mixed Reality, Tony Parisi, Global Head of VR/AR at Unity Technologies; David McIntyre, Senior Vice President at Xperi; Jay Samit, Vice Chairman of Deloitte Digital; Grant Anderson, Independent Executive Producer AR/VR; and Scot Barbour, V.P. Production Technology at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

"This year we’ve experienced great growth within emerging technologies such as VR, AR, and Real-Time Rendering. These new media impact us daily and I believe we’re in the midst of a digital evolution,” Tony Parisi said.

The Awards will kick off events for AIS as it begins its 10-year Anniversary. To help usher in a new generation of events and initiatives, the Society has brought in experienced, accomplished marketing executive Debbie Menin as Executive Vice President.

Menin brings an extensive record of impactful, effective marketing and branding experience. She’s held senior entertainment and sales strategy roles at media and technology conglomerates, starting at Variety and going on to such companies as Yahoo!, AOL Huffington Post, Machinima, MTV Networks and Parade (Conde Nast).

“Debbie Menin is one of the most respected and creative marketing, strategy and sales executives in the business, and we’re so glad that she’s joined our team,” AIS President and CEO Jim Chabin said.

“I’m so appreciative of the support from Jim and the board at AIS, and am looking forward to being at the epicenter of the advanced imaging industry, connecting and promoting member companies to help shape our future,” Menin said.

“As we begin to celebrate our first decade, our focus is on the future and all the exciting new growth possibilities our members will bring to their organizations,” Chabin added.

The Society has become the clear leader in forming a collective vision for the community that sits at the intersection of emerging technology and entertainment content by always staying with what’s most impactful and most innovative. AIS uses that position to unite, and act as an industry advocate for its high-powered members.
