CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thompson Hine LLP is pleased to announce that Heidi B. Friedman is one of only 20 environmental lawyers selected nationally as Fellows by the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL). She joins Thompson Hine partner Michael L. Hardy, who was admitted to the College in 2010.
ACOEL is a professional association of distinguished lawyers practicing in the field of environmental law who are drawn from private practice, academia, government and not-for-profit organizations. Membership is by invitation and eligibility is limited to those who have practiced environmental law for at least 15 years and whose practice for five years prior to nomination for membership has been at least 50 percent in environmental law. Members, who are recognized by their peers as preeminent in their field, are dedicated to maintaining and improving the standards of practice, administration of justice and ethics of the profession, and to contributing to the development of environmental law at the state and federal levels, as well as to helping others in the field by sharing knowledge through writing, speaking and teaching.
“We congratulate Heidi on her induction into the College,” said Andrew L. Kolesar, Environmental practice group leader. “She is a fantastic practitioner and a tremendous asset to the firm’s clients. We are thrilled that the College recognizes the strength of Heidi’s practice and her overall impact on the environmental and legal communities.”
A partner in the firm’s Environmental and Product Liability Litigation practice groups, Friedman advises on environmental, health and safety issues; regulatory and legislative matters; environmental and toxic tort litigation; environmental enforcement actions; site remediation; product stewardship; and compliance with environmental regulations. Heidi’s focus is to partner with clients to provide business solutions for environmental issues while utilizing value-based pricing, alternative staffing and legal project management to maximize efficiency and predictability.
Friedman has received widespread professional recognition, including being ranked as a leading lawyer in Chambers USA and selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, Ohio Super Lawyers and Who’s Who Legal USA. She also received the National Diversity Council’s 2016 Ohio Leadership Excellence Award and recognition by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel as one of the Women in Law Making a Difference.
Friedman received her J.D., summa cum laude, from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law and her B.S., summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University.
