DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CEMEX USA has launched operations at a new rail-served cement distribution terminal in Commerce City, Colo., designed to bring quality building materials to the Denver Metro area. The new terminal strengthens the company’s cement-distribution capabilities across Colorado, meeting the demands of the growing construction economy.
“Our customers in Denver have been requesting a more convenient way to pick up our products, and the new distribution terminal in Commerce City delivers on that,” said Juan Castillo, Vice President Commercial – South Central Region at CEMEX. “CEMEX is committed to providing a superior customer experience, everywhere, every time, and this is one of the ways we’re showing that commitment.”
The CEMEX Denver Cement Terminal is serviced by an existing rail line out of the Lyons Cement Plant and has a silo capacity of 5,000 tons. It houses type II portland cement used in concrete, precast and masonry products for a variety of construction projects throughout the state, including high-rise buildings, roadway bridges and pavements, residential foundations, driveways, airport structures and more.
“Denver and the surrounding Front Range communities have seen incredible construction growth over the past several years and we’re seeing increased demand for building products,” said Frank Craddock, Executive Vice President – Commercial & Public Affairs at CEMEX. “The addition of this terminal allows us to address the construction needs of our customers for years to come.”
Operations began at the terminal on September 21, 2017. With the addition of the Denver facility, CEMEX now has a footprint across the state of Colorado, from its Lyons plant in the north, through Denver, to its Florence Cement Terminal in the south.
“Our cement helps create the foundations of our communities in Colorado, and now that we have a facility in the Denver area, it’s easier than ever for our customers to get the cement they need, right when they need it,” said CEMEX Senior Sales Manager – Cement Kelly Mayo.
“Everything we do at CEMEX revolves around our customers—from producing quality products, to providing exceptional service so they can achieve their business goals,” CEMEX USA President Ignacio Madridejos adds. “We are here to deliver value for our customers, in Colorado and across the United States.”
