NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, a groundbreaking new series of fine and rare wine tasting experiences was unveiled by Acker Merrall & Condit, the world’s leading fine and rare wine auctioneer and America’s oldest wine store. The robust calendar of wine tastings spans six days per week, providing an array of options for people to visit the New York City store to learn about and taste fine and rare bottles not usually opened at public events.
The new series of wine tasting experiences follows last month’s launch of Acker’s Fine and Rare Wine Concierge & Club. Both initiatives bring Acker’s expertise and inventory of global wines to oenophiles and wine novices alike. "Our team of experts is passionate about creating unique wine experiences that spark a real interest in the world of fine and rare wine and allow people to learn about and enjoy wine they may not have been exposed to before," explained John Kapon, Chairman of Acker Merrall & Condit and the third generation of his family to run the company. “With our new Concierge & Club and now with our in-store tastings, more people will have unprecedented access to wine experts and the opportunity to experience fine and rare wine,” he added.
Acker’s unique tasting events offer the best in global wine selections, focusing on different themes and regions daily from Monday through Saturday. On Thursdays, for example, guests will have the extraordinary opportunity to taste $200+ bottles hand-picked by Acker experts, such as 1999 Sassicaia, 2003 Shafer Hillside Select, and much more. On “Wow Wine” Wednesdays, a trio of thematically linked ‘greats’ will be poured, such as a 1985 Bordeaux horizontal featuring Cos d’Estournel, Leoville Barton & Beychevelle, all from the 1985 vintage. At each day’s events, guests will be able to taste sought-after wines from top producers, rarely included in public tastings, and bottles are poured until empty.
Tastings take place at 5:00 PM on weeknights and 2:00 PM on Saturdays at Acker’s retail store at 160 W. 72nd St. in Manhattan. The events are complimentary, first-come first-served and for guests 21+. For more information, please visit https://www.ackerwines.com/InStoreTastings.
