AMC Health Selected as Telemonitoring Provider for HealthPartners Institute and Hypertension Study

HealthPartners Leveraging $6 million Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute Award to Expand Study After Promising Results

NEW YORK--()--AMC Health, the leading provider of proven real-time virtual care solutions, announced today that it has been selected as the telemonitoring provider for HealthPartners Institute and its continued high blood pressure study, Hyperlink.

Previous phases of the Hyperlink study have shown positive results for the control of blood pressure with the use of home telemonitoring. Recently, HealthPartners was awarded $6 million from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) which will allow for the expansion of the study to include a larger sampling of patients. In the second phase of research, AMC Health and HealthPartners will work together to monitor patients’ blood pressure from home along with a direct link to pharmacists or nurse practitioners. This is in addition to regular doctor visits will determine if telemonitoring can improve a patient’s health and decrease blood pressure more than traditional clinic-based care.

AMC Health will provide patients with in-home devices to measure their blood pressure. Devices will automatically send vitals data through AMC’s robust CareConsole® clinical platform into the HealthPartners Epic electronic medical record. As part of the care team, pharmacists will review, analyze, and act upon home blood pressure readings to manage patients’ hypertension.

“Over 85 million adults have high blood pressure-that’s one in every three adults in the U.S.” said Karen Margolis, MD, MPH with HealthPartners. “Only about half (54%) of people with high blood pressure have their condition under control. Our study will show whether telehealth improves hypertension care for patients who are enrolled directly from a real-world primary care setting. We will be able to get more accurate readings by having patients take their readings several days each week. The partnership with AMC Health ensures we have the right technology and telemonitoring experience we need to continue our research.”

AMC Health has a long history in remote patient monitoring and supporting research studies. “We are honored to work with HealthPartners to help improve such a widespread, chronic problem,” said Nesim Bildirici, president and CEO of AMC Health. “If not controlled, high blood pressure can lead to heart failure, vision loss, stroke and kidney disease, and we’re aiming for our solution to make a significant difference for patients living with hypertension.”
