SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A wind-driven firestorm has enveloped dozens of communities in Sonoma and Napa counties in Northern California. Scores of homes have been destroyed, and the fires are still largely unconstrained, threatening thousands more. As firefighters risk their lives to protect civilians, many learned their own homes were consumed as well.
Go Fund A Hero launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money dedicated to help various local firefighters from several local precincts In Sonoma and Napa counties. Our mission is to assist and network with non-profits, businesses, and charities in the rescue, disaster relief efforts, law, fire and military.
The official fund, managed by Marin Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 1775 (http://www.iaff1775.org) and Santa Rosa Firefighters, is the official fundraising platform to assist the many firefighters and their families who've lost homes. Funds raised here will be distributed equally among those in need - currently at least 40 firefighter families affected from Santa Rosa Firefighters, Marin Professional Firefighters, Cal Fire, Oakland, San Francisco, Petaluma and Berkeley.
"Go Fund a Hero supports these brave heroes, still on the fire lines, unable to return home to assess the damage and comfort of their families. Many of these firefighters lost family members, loved ones and cherished pets, in addition to losing all of their belongings," says Marty Wilkins, CEO of Go Fund a Hero. “We want to help them to recover as quickly as possible.”
