IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PrescribeWellness, the cloud-based services company that inspires collaboration for better health, has partnered with Case Haub Consulting, a clinical pharmacist and call center services firm dedicated to transforming the future of pharmacy, to expand Central Sync services. With Central Sync, community pharmacists are able to identify and recruit the most critical patients impacting adherence measures and to enroll them in the StarWellness Med Sync program. NCPA Simplify My Meds customers will now have the opportunity to use StarWellness Med Sync with no cost through their 25th patient enrollment.
“The benefits of Med Sync are well-documented, and thousands of community pharmacies across the country are enrolling patients in StarWellness Med Sync to streamline workflow and deliver immunizations, medication counseling and other vital enhanced services,” said Al Babbington, CEO of PrescribeWellness. “But many are still finding it difficult to get started. With this partnership, NCPA Simplify My Meds customers will be able to use StarWellness with no cost until they have 25 patients enrolled.”
Improving Health Outcomes By Improving Adherence
Studies show that half of all patients do not take their medication as prescribed. Poor medication adherence and overuse contribute to 125,000 deaths annually and at least 10 percent of hospitalizations.
Implementing StarWellness Med Sync in community pharmacies delivers improved health outcomes and greater convenience by enabling pharmacies to fill patient prescriptions and “sync” all of them for a single, convenient pick-up day each month. The process of aligning medications to a single fill day for pick-up or delivery has been proven to increase adherence and patient loyalty and streamline pharmacy workflows. By targeting maintenance medication patients that are below CMS-adherence thresholds, community pharmacies have found that 96 percent of these patients achieve 5-Star levels within the first six months of enrollment, resulting in 78 days of additional coverage per year.
Extending the Value of Med Sync
Central Sync extends the value of the PrescribeWellness Med Sync platform by providing the essential knowledge and tools needed to scale and sustain a Med Sync program, as well as focusing on the proactive patient care that can make a difference. The PrescribeWellness clinical team, consisting of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, provides extensive training, guidance and curriculum materials to participating pharmacies, helping them establish and scale successful Med Sync programs that can help increase adherence scores and Star Ratings and optimize resource allocation within a given pharmacy.
“The Central Sync program has been tremendously helpful in jump-starting our Med Sync program,” said Romeo Gonzalez of Rushing and Gonzalez Drug in Alice, Texas. “The program has absolutely helped our patients to become more adherent and is much more convenient for them. It saves them many trips to the pharmacy, especially those patients who pick up their medications on a weekly basis.”
StarWellness is the official Medication Synchronization Technology of the National Community Pharmacy Association (NCPA) Simplify My Meds program. Thousands of pharmacies across the country are using StarWellness to improve adherence, revenue and quality measures while also improving workflow and inventory management.
Added Babbington, “New payment models require a patient-centric approach, and community pharmacies must be prepared to go ‘beyond the fill.’ Making the medication refill and pick up process as convenient as possible for patients is fundamental to patient care and reinforces the pharmacist-patient relationship that supports lasting behavior change.”
