Introducing Cynthia Fields

The Made in New York Dress Brand for women who want to be #DressedForIt

NEW YORK--()--Retail veteran Cynthia (Cindy) Fields launched the Cynthia Fields fall collection online on Monday, born out of the desire to give women what they want…dresses that fit! And “the fit” isn’t the only thing that’s getting rave reviews from women of all shapes and sizes.

These expertly tailored and exquisitely made dresses come in three silhouettes: Sheath, Fit ‘n’ Flare, and A Line, with 12 styles. In classic black and rich colors: red, aubergine, espresso, navy and teal. With modern, classic styling in beautiful fabrics that hold up even after a full day sitting in meetings, the dresses are effortlessly chic with simple contours and clean lines with the attention to detail that is only found on more expensive dresses. Priced from $298.00 - $498.00, many of the styles come with contrast color linings, that are the signature CF touch.

Cindy knows a thing or two about dresses, which is why her new brand that carries her name is a breath of fresh air for women! Cindy noticed that busy, career women were challenged with finding a great dress. A great dress has nothing to do with price, but everything to do with how it makes you feel. “I have never been one of those lucky women who can put on any dress and it fits perfectly. Well cut, well-made dresses are often very expensive, but as every woman knows, a great dress and the confidence that comes along with it can be priceless. What I set out to do was to create a line of dresses that make you feel like a million bucks, but don’t cost a fortune!”

The Cynthia Fields line has been designed for women with real bodies—curvy, hour-glass, pear-shaped—sizes 4 to 16, which according to the extensive research that was undertaken, and the focus group results, is the sector of the market where women are underserved when it comes to dresses. “I developed the line for women who need to look and feel like they own the room. Whether they are in the C-suite or on their way, there is so much more pressure on women than men when it comes to how they look. If a great dress can level the playing field, that’s a great thing,” commented Fields.

There is a growing trend in upstart entrepreneurs changing how women dress for the office. With women making up more than half of the management occupation workforce, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and almost half of the total labor force, there’s a real need for the kind of clothes that professional women need as they progress their career. And progressing a career is something that Cindy knows a lot about.

From day one, Cindy was fascinated by retail, merchandising, buying and in particular—dresses. Her hard work, drive and voracious appetite for learning led her to the world of catalogs. Cindy joined the fledgling catalog division at Victoria’s Secret in 1984, becoming President & CEO in 1986. During her 14 years as the leader of the DTC division, revenues increased from $50 million to nearly $1 billion. When she started, she quickly realized that a broader mix of apparel would significantly increase revenues and profitability. Along with other clothing categories, she introduced dresses and the styles she developed became an instant and powerful success. It was this success that earned her the role of President and CEO of the catalog division.

Today, Cindy is back where she belongs, blazing a trail in a digital world with a new brand for a new breed of career woman. Women today are powerhouses; they need dresses that are just as powerful… dresses that can take them from the office to a client dinner without a second thought.
