AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wikibuy, a free price tracking and comparison tool used by over 1.5 million members, just released an augmented reality (AR) update on the Wikibuy app for the iPhone and iPad. Featuring “search in your space” across more than 7 million products, the new Wikibuy iOS app makes price comparison across tens of thousands of brands and retailers a one-click effort.
Wikibuyers can now search for millions of products based on the dimensions they’ve specified in an AR environment using Wikibuy’s iOS app. From high-definition (HD) televisions and other consumer electronics, to home furniture and gardening equipment, shoppers are able to search and compare sizes and prices of products available from hundreds of different retailers including Kmart, Walmart, Amazon, eBay, Jet.com, and more. Now, shoppers can find items they’ll be sure will fit in their homes.
The Austin-based startup expects that AR and virtual reality (VR) environments will become core shopping experiences in the future and Wikibuy’s AR-enabled apps will be a part of that. “We're barely cracking the surface of what's possible with AR and VR when it comes to online shopping. Purchasing a product without seeing how it fits and what it looks like in your home will be a thing of the past,” said Ryan Engle, Chief Technology Officer at Wikibuy. “This technology is exactly what online shopping needs to leapfrog offline retail."
Shoppers can enjoy the new AR feature by downloading the iOS version of the Wikibuy app from the App Store on ARKit-capable devices.
Wikibuy’s highly-rated (4.9 stars) Chrome extension is used by 1.5 million shoppers and can be downloaded from the official Chrome Store.
