ARLINGTON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--After a month of spirited voting, USA TODAY readers have name Six Flags Over Texas’ Fright Fest as the Best Theme Park Halloween Event in the state of Texas.
Six Flags Over Texas was one of the country’s first theme parks to host a Halloween celebration beginning in 1976. As Halloween has continued to gain popularity, the experience has evolved into what it is today—the biggest and scariest Fright Fest ever. Being recognized as the Best Theme Park Halloween Event in Texas underscores Six Flags’ ongoing commitment to raise the bar and maintain its status as the must-see experience for fear seekers near and far.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by our fans for our efforts to make Fright Fest the biggest, the best, and the scariest Halloween event not only in Texas but in the entire Southwest United States,” said Park President Steve Martindale. “To be selected by USA TODAY readers is a great motivator for our team to continue offering the most immersive and innovative Halloween experience in the state, bar none.”
Six Flags Over Texas’ 2017 lineup is taking scare to a whole new level featuring five petrifying haunted houses, seven creepy scare zones, plus more than 200 zombies, ghouls and scare-actors roaming throughout the 200-acre park. New this year—a bone-chilling scare zone, Los Chupacabras, and an all-new show—Goblin Attack Squad Gathering.
- Los Chupacabras: Once the night creeps into this small, tranquil village, the legend of the half dog, half-humanlike creature comes to life. These monsters prey on anyone who dares to enter their territory.
- Goblin Attack Squad Gathering: This high-energy show brings all of the sliding goblins together for one frighteningly spectacular performance. But once they surround their victims, there’s no turning back.
Six Flags Over Texas’ sister parks, Six Flags Magic Mountain, located near Los Angeles, California, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, Texas, were also named among America’s best scream parks, coming in first and 10th place respectively, making Six Flags Fright Fest a coast-to-coast powerhouse. Fright Fest is hosted by all 13 Six Flags theme parks.
