Mark Ray Joins Nardello & Co. as a Managing Director and Head of Digital Investigations

NEW YORK--()--Nardello & Co. LLC, a leading global investigations firm, today announced that Mark Ray has joined the firm as a Managing Director and Head of Digital Investigations. Mr. Ray will be based in Nardello’s Atlanta office and will focus on the firm’s growing cyber and digital investigations practice.

Mr. Ray has over 20 years of experience managing complex, multi-national cyber investigations and technology projects in both the private and public sectors. Most recently, he was a Director in PwC’s Cyber Investigations and Incident Response practice. Prior to that, Mr. Ray was a Special Agent with the FBI’s Cyber Division, where he was responsible for leading the investigations of a variety of high-profile cyber events, ranging from criminal network intrusions, to national security matters. Notably, he was awarded the Department of Justice Director's Award for Outstanding Litigation Team in connection with his work as the lead case agent on the SpyEye Botnet investigation. Mr. Ray also played a critical role in the investigation that led to the arrests of two individuals in connection with the 2014 cyber-attack against JPMorgan Chase and was the lead case agent in the Citadel Botnet takedown.

Biography

Mark Ray

Mr. Ray joins Nardello & Co. from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was a Director in the firm’s Cyber Investigations and Incident Response practice. In this role, he helped organizations around the world respond to, investigate, and recover from major cyber incidents and fraud events. Utilizing his front-line cybersecurity expertise, Mr. Ray also helped clients develop strategies and programs to prepare for and defend against advanced cyber threats. Prior to joining PwC, Mr. Ray had a distinguished career as a Special Agent with the FBI’s Cyber Division, where he led some of the FBI’s most preeminent criminal and national security cyber investigations. These complex, global investigations resulted in the dismantlement of several major transnational cybercrime syndicates, including the group responsible for the 2014 JPMC breach, as well as the SpyEye and Citadel malware crime rings, which together were responsible for more than $1 billion in damage to individuals and financial institutions around the world. Mark received the Department of Justice Director’s Award for his work as the lead case agent on the SpyEye Botnet takedown, among other distinguished recognitions within the U.S. Government and the international cybersecurity community. He also served overseas stints as the FBI’s cyber liaison officer to Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania and the Netherlands. Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Ray held roles at several technology companies, including IBM, where he led the development and implementation of various enterprise software and security solutions on a global scale.

Mr. Ray holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Purdue University, and a Masters of Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He advises the boards of several cybersecurity organizations and has lectured around the world on cybercrime and cybersecurity.
