MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 6, 2017 -- Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) announced today that its AN/TSC-198 Secret Internet Protocol Router and Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Access Point (“NIPR” or “SNAP”) products are being used in support of Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery effort in Texas by the 63rd Expeditionary Signal Battalion.
The SNAP systems are used to support the Army's secure and unsecure internet protocols to provide voice, data, video teleconferencing, battle-command and control systems, e-mail and other necessary applications and are able to provide world-class communications support to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. The SNAP systems are being used by 2 teams supporting units at Kelly Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, and 2 teams who traveled over 5 hours by HMMWV to reach the outer city limits of Houston, Texas to bring vital communications to U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) support personnel helping with rescue and recovery efforts and were deployed in safe areas such as on top of a local hospital (pictured).
